When Gunner was killed we knew we had to do anything we could to keep other parents from going through what we were. We knew we wanted to keep his ruined motorcycle since he loved it so much. It is still very difficult to look at the mangled bike and think of our beloved son being killed in a violent accident while riding on it. You can't imagine the anguish of imagining how scared your child was, and the pain they felt. No parent should have to experience it.
While standing outside staring at his bike, we had an epiphany. If we were affected so much by looking at his wrecked motorcycle and knowing he was killed while riding it, maybe others would be affected too. Maybe it would be a visual reminder to really look and pay attention when you are driving. Maybe it would illicit an 'OH CRAP' moment and wake people up to the consequences of inattentive and distracted driving.
We have some amazing friends that believed in our vision and donated a trailer to us so Gunner's Trailer could become a reality. The motorcycle is permanently attached to the trailer with a steel frame constructed around it to hang dual informational banners from.
Our goal is to display it at businesses, events, or residences to enable people to see it, and hopefully save at least one family from losing a loved one. Upcoming times and locations will be posted on The Gunner Dortch Memorial Facebook Page.
If you know of a business or event that would be willing to host Gunner's Trailer for a day fill out the form below, or message us on The Gunner Dortch Memorial Facebook Page.
